I had the Honor & pleasure of knowing Doug for over 40 years
I considered him a close friend & I was his independent CPA for his businesses.
We were also partners in some real estate investments.
I can't say enough good things about Him & I'm going to miss our long involved telephone calls.
Doug was as real, rare and raw as they get and I couldn’t get enough. He believed in me as a commercial broker immensely and it meant the world to me. I will miss our drives to locate more real estate, lunch at the hole in the wall, the random phone calls and most of all memes to live by. I will try to live my life to the fullest as you did until I see you again my friend. 💔
I've known Doug and Virginia my whole life since my dad had worked at Rhine Demolition his entire adult life. I have a lot of wonderful memories swimming in their pool, playing horseshoes at the company picnics, and wearing my "Rhine" hats and suspenders. I was also fortunate to work at Rhine Demolition for over ten years with lots of my family members.
My sweetest memories are more recent. As we started the closing process at Rhine Demolition I spent a lot of one on one time with Doug. He told me tons of stories. I heard about his childhood and growing up, and when he met Virginia and knew he was in love.
I am grateful I was able to spend that time with Doug.

I’ve known Doug since I was a kid. I worked for him for more than 35 years. Doug was a big part of my life and he and Virginia were there for me and my family in our times of need. We had a lot of good times and we got a lot done.
It’s gonna take a long time for me to wrap my head around the fact that Doug is gone. I’m still waiting for one of his phone calls.
He will be missed.

Doug was a legend and so full of life. Such heartbreaking and unexpected news to hear he has passed. I will remember him as a big teddy bear who absolutely loved his dogs, his man cave, and Virginia! Many dinners and visits to his compound when we lived in Puyallup. Less once we moved to Florida.

There are just so many memories of Doug, it is hard to choose. My favorite memory are his calls. He would be between destinations and be chatting when he'd realize he just missed his exit. He'd always say 'I guess I'd better pay attention.'
He was a fun loving individual who, whether you liked him or not, you respected. I am glad that I was part of his work family, and will always have fond memories of him.
