Missing your humor and determination duogie fresh
Doug was the kind of person whose smile could light up a room. No matter what life brought his way, he always seemed to greet others with warmth, kindness, and a genuine joy that made people feel welcome.
He was a devoted husband and a loving father who put his family at the center of his life. The love he shared with those closest to him was evident in everything he did. Doug had a way of making people feel valued, supported, and cared for, and his gentle spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
While his passing leaves a tremendous void, the memories of his smile, his love, and his unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Doug lead me through many adventures when we were in Sea Cadets together. We also shared the interesting first real job experience together at Farrels Ice Cream Parlour. Beside those singular experiences, I was always inspired by Doug and his ability to see the right path forward and follow it regardless of peer pressure and distractions. We lost touch after our teen years.
Then, we came together again over messages shared about fortitude during cancer therapy. While forever, unfalteringly, the father and husband to his family, and attending to his major therapeutic hurdles, he helped me through my wife's (ultimately successful) cancer survival. He did so with simple wisdom, confidence, and humor. Just like another Doug day.
I'll miss him while I carry forward and pay forward his excellent examples of a life well-lived.
I did not know Doug personally, but I loved the stories shared by Salina via Facebook. His love for his family and his sense of humor was evident in those stories. He fought the good fight and showed his family what the true meaning of love and resilience are. My heart goes out to all who knew him.
