Dorothy A. Seydell's Obituary
Dorothy quietly passed into the arms of Jesus on January 8, 2018. Dorothy was surrounded by loved ones who comforted her during her final hours.
Alex & Lulu Brown welcomed their precious newborn into their home on November 12, 1919. She was to join two brothers and three sisters on the five acre ranch in Great Falls Montana. Dorothy loved the ranch, and was quick to share stories of the various escapades she and her siblings managed to find themselves involved in. At the age of 12, her family traveled West, arriving by train in Tacoma, Washington, which became the families permanent location.
As a teenager, Dorothy learned to dance; once this happened she never stopped moving. She loved to dance and taught others how to move to her favorite 'Big Bands'. It was at one such dance she met Don and they were married several months later. They raised two daughters together; Donna Long and Dolores (Luther) Fanning. Dorothy spent many hours sewing for her girls; enjoying her time at the sewing machine, she created outfits made with
special measures of her love.
Over the years Dorothy worked in a variety of positions, all of which included, service to the public. Striking up a conversation with most anyone, was one of her most wonderful characteristics.
Her three grandchildren were spoiled by their grandma. Don (Kelly) Long, DeAnn (Ross) Thysens and Dale (Unity) Long were Dorothy's pride and joy and she treasured each and every moment with them throughout the years. Great-grandchildren Ryan Long, Gordon Long, Curtis (Jayme) Long, Jerad (Danielle) Thysens, Gavin (Fiance' Ashley)Thysens, Jeffery Long and Nathan Long were no less treasured. Grandma GG could tell a tale and hold their attention long after the lights turned out. Dorothy was also blessed with six great-great grandchildren which provided her with a family of five generations.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Don Seydell, her five siblings, and her much loved son-in-law, Ed Long, who recently passed in September of
2017.
The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at University Place Rehab Center for their special love and care to mom over the past years. A big thank you to Jessica, April, Sheri, Judy, Larry and Jerry. Your help and love was so appreciated.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Friday, January 26th at 1:00 pm, at Sunset Bible Church, 'The Station' 7909 40th St W, University Place, WA 98466.
The family would request no flowers. Remembrances can be made to Sunset Bible Church.
