Dorothy Anderson Perry's Obituary
Dorothy (Dot) Anderson Perry, age 92, of Peoria, AZ passed away on December 9th, 2013 in Peoria, AZ of natural causes. Dorothy was born June 16, 1921 in Preston, MS. Her parents were Tom and Mary Palmer of Philadelphia, MS. Dorothy grew up in Philadelphia, MS with her brother Tom and sister Jewell and graduated from Neshoba High School. In 1962, Dorothy moved to Tacoma, WA with her two children, Deborah and Tom. In Tacoma, Dorothy met and married Dr. H.A. (Andy) Anderson, former president of the Tacoma chapter of the AMA. Dorothy obtained her Real Estate Broker’s license and established two highly successful companies, Lakewood Realty and Bennett Anderson Realty. As a highly respected member of the Lakewood business community, Dorothy was the first woman appointed to the board of directors of Seattle First Bank. After the passing of Andy, Dorothy retired from full time work and subsequently married Dr. Roy Perry, former Director of the Port of Tacoma and established a winter residence in Sun City, AZ. In 2003, after the passing of Dr. Perry, Dorothy moved to Sun City. An avid golfer, Dorothy was active in the Tacoma Country Club, the Oakbrook Country Club and the Palmbrook Country Club of Sun City. Dorothy leaves behind her long-time companion, John McHenry of Sun City. She is survived by her children, Deborah Decker of Huntsville, AL and James Thomas (Tom) Bennett of Tacoma, WA, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Mountain View cemetery on December 17 at 2pm.
