Dorothy Marie Steers' Obituary
Dorothy peacefully passed to be with her previously departed husband of over 50 years, Walter A. Steers on February 21, 2004. Dorothy leaves behind her beloved Daughter Doris Hardy, Grandsons Joel and Richard Frey, Great Grandchildren Chari Woodlief, Nicole and Richard Frey. Dorothy was born in San Francisco California on September 25, 1915. She eventually met Walter there and moved to the Tacoma area in the late 1950Â's. Dorothy and Walt were active in many home and community activities. Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making her own cloths. In addition to many other crafts she painted and fired beautiful porcelain items found decorating her home. Outside her home she was an active member of AROWS and Lakewood Senior Center. With these organizations she enjoyed many an outing with the Â"girlsÂ". She leaves behind many friends who will miss her dearly. She loved her Mariners.Dorothy had been challenged by and beat cancer before in her life and as with the last challenge, faced it all with a positive and upbeat attitude. She never wanted to burden anyone and was always more concerned with her family and friends. Before her passing she had told me that her life was long and wonderful with her only regret that she couldnÂ't do more for others. Her last days still had smiles and laugher for all. We will all miss her very much. The Frey and Hardy families thanks each and every one of you for all of your help, support, love and friendship you have given to Dorothy over these many years. Thank you very much. A reception will be held at the Mountain View Memorial Park on Sunday February 29, 2004 between 2:00 and 5:00, Celebration of Life Hall, Oak room. Final interment will be with Walter at the Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA.In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer society, the Multiple Sclerosis society or a charity of your choice. Or, go see the Mariners for her.
