Dorothy Mae Jones-Ussery
Dorothy was born to Paul and Iva Cleveland on June 4, 1934 in Perry, Iowa. She was surrounded by family and friends when she went home to be with her Lord on Jan. 12, 2009. She was taken from us unexpectedly due to a tragic car accident that occurred on Dec. 25, 2008. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, and a loving mother figure to many children throughout her life serving as foster care and day care. There is nothing she would not do for her family and friends. She was a member of Centerpoint Christian Fellowship, serving her Lord and His people in many ways. She was very creative and enjoyed making crafts, including Christmas ornaments every year for her grandchildren, crocheting, and recently making earrings that were loved by everyone who saw them. She was a great cook and everyone looked forward to her Christmas cookies and candy. She had a pot of coffee ready for anyone who wanted to drop in and visit at any time. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 44 years, Norman L. Jones. Survived by her sister Clara Davis, daughter Iva (David) Rockett, and their children Brandon (Jen), Briana, Acacia and Leandra, son Gordon (Tara) Jones, and their children Gregory, Andrew (Jasmine), Alesha, Kayla and Dylon, her husband of seven years, Samuel Ussery, his mother Arcie Ussery, and their family, several close cousins, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends/ sisters Karen "Dutch" Farrah and Sally Gardner. Her step-daughter Jennifer passed away on Dec. 25, 2008 as a result of the accident. A memorial service will be held in her honor Sat., Jan. 31, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Centerpoint Christian Fellowship, 2041 S. 66th St., Tacoma, WA.
