Aunt Dottie was like a second mother to .me. Always a great listener and great conversationalist with the ability to relate to everyone about anything. Extremely grateful for any kindness and generous with praise. Our lives are so much richer for her friendship. You left us with many wonderful and lasting memories.
My condolences to the family. Dort was a wonderful friend to my mother Maude for over 60 years. Her 100th birthday party was a wonderful gathering. She was always an inspiration to me.
Memories from Bowman Loop at West Point circa 1947-1951: We lived in Qtrs 274 right across the street from the Lee’s. I was 8 years old - about 3 years older than Bucky Lee. Dottie was always “Mrs. Lee” to us kids. And she was the very best, closest friend my Mom ever had. All of us neighborhood kids loved her. She was always so kind and pleasant to us. If any of us got scraped knees playing street hockey, we’d always knock on her door first. Because Mrs. Lee would give us a bandaid….and a chocolate chip cookie! I stayed connected to Mrs. Lee thru my Mom when I was a cadet - I was 2 or 3 years in front of Bucky at USMA. And I had contact with her again when my Mom passed away in 2006. And I had contact with Mrs. Lee when I began teaching in Thailand, 2011 to the present. She applauded the work I was doing there and her praise meant the world to me. Rest in peace, Mrs. Lee. I love you and I will miss you. And I pray I will see you again in heaven. With deep respect and much love. old joe - a servant.
I'm Susan Lee; Married to George Lee. Dorothy was my Mother in law and what a kind, caring person she was. When my own Mother died, she took me on and said "I'll be your mother now" and I felt that came true in every respect.
What a memory she had remembering things in our lives as well as in world events. Ask about her growing up memories, she'd tell us such interesting stories. She cherished her family and that's what I cherished about her. Love of family! She will be missed. We all loved her.
So sorry for your loss. I met Dottie when Ted has his heart transplant. She welcomed me with open arms and was truly a great lady. I enjoyed visiting with her when I was in Seattle visiting Kathy. She was funny, loving, and truly enjoyed life. I will miss her. See you on the other side Dottie.
I married into the Potasky family and got the Lees as a bonus; I am Anne’s sister in law.
We will miss Dorothy, an intelligent, graceful, and caring woman. Simply lovely.
Dorothy had a genuine interest in my family’s lives. A special memory to me was Dorothy’s ability to get my very introverted son to communicate with her. Where others gave up, Dorothy was tenacious. I never saw the twinkle in her eye leave when she spoke to McCain. It took years, but when Dorothy was finally successful in coaxing even a piddling of information from my son she was positively tickled.
