Dorothy Sophia Kirk
Dorothy Sophia (Fisher) Kirk died on April 1, 2012 at the age of 103 years old. Dorothy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 16, 1909 and was raised in Glendive, Montana. She left for college at the University of Washington in 1927. There she met her lifelong partner, Paul Kirk, and they were married in 1932. They settled in Lakewood in 1944 where they raised three children. Dorothy and Paul lived in their Lake Steilacoom home and were together until Paul's death in 2002, a remarkable seventy-year marriage. Dorothy remained in the family home until she moved in October 2011 to a home in Oakbrook where she spent her last six months surrounded by nurturing caregivers.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Paul -Å"Rick- Kirk (Harriet) of Lakewood, Ann Kirk Davis of Lakewood, and Morris -Å"Mac- Kirk (Bette) of Lakewood; grandchildren Mary McCarthy (Joe) of Lakewood, George Kirk of Wisconsin, Marta Schnabel (Matt) of Boston, Maria Davis of San Francisco, Brian Kirk (Molly) of Los Angeles and Lakewood, James Kirk (Sarah) of Seattle, Greg Murphy (Abby) of Tacoma, Jeff Murphy (Mary Jane) of Medina, Donna Gray (Gary) of Tacoma, Lance Rogers of Dallas, and Celia Morgan (Frank) of Houston; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She will be buried alongside her husband, Paul, at Mountain View Memorial Park.
