Dorothy Ioleen (Slusher) Erickson's Obituary
Passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2016. Dorothy was born on October 6, 1929 in Oakes, North Dakota and moved to Tacoma with her family when her father was stationed at Fort Lewis during WWII. She graduated from Visitation Villa in 1947 after which she attended Green River College and nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital. She married George (Bob) Erickson and celebrated 63 years together before his passing in December 2014. Dorothy and Bob raised six children in Tacoma. She and Bob enjoyed exploring the USA together in their fifth-wheeler and spending time with their grandchildren. Her Catholic faith was a source of strength throughout her life and family genealogy and gardening were lifelong pursuits. Dorothy will be missed by her sons Steven, Robert, Mark, and Peter (deceased), daughters Jeanne (Ken), and Clare (Rod), and grandchildren Erik, Meghan, Darby, Andrew, Peter, and Mariah, and great-grandson Jace. Sharing our loss is her sister Maxine (Ed) and the extended McCarthy family.
A mass will be celebrated for Dorothy on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5510 N. 44th, Tacoma, followed by a memorial gathering in the Parish Hall next door. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
