Dorothy E. Lawson's Obituary
Dorothy Elizabeth Eaton Lawson, age 93, passed away peacefully to eternal glory in our Lord, Jesus Christ, Sunday, March 4th with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.Dorothy was born March 26, 1913 in Seattle, WA to Wilford and Pearl Eaton. Her parents moved to San Francisco where Dorothy met and married Merritt Earl Lawson (Sr.) on August 17, 1934. They had two sons, Merritt Earl Lawson, Jr. and Wayne Edward Lawson. Dorothy was married to Merritt Sr., just over 50 years when he died and went to be with Jesus on February 12, 1985. They were members of Central Bible Church, Portland, OR where Pastor John G. Mitchell was their pastor. Their son, Dr. Merritt E. Lawson, Jr. officiated at his dadÂ's memorial service at Central Bible Church.Dorothy then moved to Tacoma, WA to be with her family and joined First Assembly of God-Life Center in 1987, where Pastor Fulton Buntain was her pastor. Dorothy was active in the Church activities there while she lived at Life Manor for many years, prior to her move to University Place Care Center where she received the best of care until her death. Her son, Dr. Lawson will also officiate at her memorial service.Dorothy is lovingly missed by her surviving family: her son, Dr. Merritt Lawson, Jr. and his wife, Diana M. Lawson and their married children; James Merritt Lawson, Deborah Lawson Antholt, Mark Allen Lawson, Rebecca Lawson McDonald and their families, including nine (9) of DorothyÂ's great-grandchildren, all in the Tacoma-Olympia area. Also, her son, Mr. Wayne E. Lawson of Soledad, CA and family members.In DorothyÂ's Bible she had underlined: Â"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your pathÂ" (Prov. 3:5-6).A memorial service will be at Life Center, 19th and S. Union, 1 P.M., Friday, March 16th. In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated to: Covenant Bible Seminary-Scholarship Fund.A private graveside will be held at the Brainard Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
