Dorothy Mae Douglas-Thomas' Obituary
Dorothy Mae Douglas-Thomas went home to be with her lord and savior on April 10th. She was born on March 27, 1929 to William and Maude Douglas. She was predeceased by her husband Clifton C. Thomas, her daughter Shari Lee Thomas, her son Douglas C. Thomas, and her sister Shirley Meyers. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Reed (Dan), daughter-in-law Suzy Thomas, her brother Bill Douglas, grandchildren Tiffini Spangler (Brandon), Chris Thomas (Ashley), and Paul Reed, and four great-grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed a very active life, including snow-skiing, water-skiing, and golf. Dorothy and Cliff spent many years golfing in Hawaii, and later spending the winters in Palm Springs. She also did lots of traveling with her lifelong grade school friends Max, Kath, and Beverly, also known as the "Golden Girls". Dorothy was a member of Fircrest Golf Club for over 50 years. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church for 60+ years. Dorothy's passion was the Shari Lee Thomas Orthopedic Guild, which was founded after the death of her daughter Shari in 1955. The guild is still active today, and part of the Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. A special Thank You to Hospice, and the entire staff at Kings Manor, who took wonderful care of my mom over the last few years. Services for Dorothy will be held Saturday, April 22nd, 11am, at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shari Lee Thomas Guild, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, Tacoma, WA.
