Dorothy Bernice Tiedeman's Obituary
Dorothy (Molund) Tiedeman - Loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, confidante, friend, was taken suddenly from us on March 3, 2009.
Dorothy was born to Swedish immigrants, Erik and Elsa Anna Molund on October 17, 1927. She joined brother, Elmer (Swede) and sister, Inga, to begin a wonderful Scandinavian childhood. Dorothy's life was dedicated to her home, family and church. She was taken to Sunday school at Mt. Zion Lutheran Tacoma as a little girl and she continued in her strong faith throughout her life. Her family worshipped at Resurrection Lutheran as well as Peninsula Lutheran in Gig Harbor. Dorothy was gifted with a beautiful solo soprano voice, which earned a music scholarship to Ellensburg College after she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. She continued her education at Pacific Lutheran University earning her teacher's degree in 1951 and taught for 32 years at Browns Point Elementary School. It was during her years at PLU that she sang, toured and soloed with the Choir of the West. She will always be remembered for her choir solo in -Å"Beautiful Savior-. She loved teaching the elementary students and living summers on the beach in their beautiful view home built by husband, Stanley, for her and the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley and is survived by brother Elmer (Pauline); children, Stanley, Lantz and Denise Tiedeman; grandchildren, Ryan, Lantz Erik, Evan, Anna, Thomas and Caroleann. Dorothy was lovingly called -Å"Gramma Dot- by all her grandchildren and still called -Å"Auntie Dot- by the many loving nieces and nephews.
The family misses her dearly, but knows there is much celebration in heaven as she joins her heavenly family with Swedish meatballs, krumkaka, Swedish pudding and spritz cookies. Sov gott, lilla flicka.
Visitation will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home from 8:00 am to Graveside service, which will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday March 10, 2009. Followed by a celebration of her life held at Peninsula Lutheran Church 6509 38th Ave NW Gig Harbor, WA at 2:00 pm. Reception following.
