Dorothy B. Meade's Obituary
Dorothy Blanche MeadeDorothy B. Meade, 78, of Tacoma, passed away on July 28, 2006 at the Orchard Pointe Memory Care Facility in Port Orchard. She was born in Tacoma to Earl B. and Elsie L. Gourley on September 10, 1927. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1944, and then attended Knapps Business College. As a life time member of ESA (Epsilon Sigma Alpha) she enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad with her many fellow members. She was very active in Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts for over 30 years, participated in PTA including a recipient of the Golden Acorn, and everyone will remember how much she loved to work in her yard. She worked at then St Regis and now Simpson Paper Company in Tacoma for over 30 years. One of her fondness memories was the monthly get together with her grade school friends for the past 60 years, affectionately called Â"Kit Club.Â" Thanks to Kathy, Jackie, Alice, Millie, Phyllis, Bev, Dorothy, and Nancy for those wonderful memories.Survivors include son Bob (Merna) Minnitti of Port Orchard, WA, daughter Linda (Doug) Johnson of Lake Havasu, AZ; grandchildren Melanie (Brad), Nicole (Cary), Robbie (Jessica), Tricia (Jeff) and Jeff (Sheri); great grandchildren, Alyssah, Ashley, Zane, Cody, Nick, Braydon, Bradley, Brianna, and Britney; brother Bob (Kathy) Gourley, and nephews Larry (Monica) Gourley, Mark (Marina) Gourley and niece Diane Gourley. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, James Meade, January 25, 2004.Visitation will be held from 1 Â- 5 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Mountain View Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2006 in the Garden Chapel, with a reception to follow in the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the AlzheimerÂ's Association 12721 30th Avenue NE, Suite 101 Seattle, WA 98125.
