Dorothea Johnson
09-24-31 - 11-06-08
Loving wife, mother, and grandma, died peacefully at home, in her sleep, with her husband by her side. There will be a gathering at the Johnson home on Nov. 16 2008 from 1-4. Please call the family for directions.
Dorothea was born September 24, 1931 to O. Dee and Mary Glen Parker in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated in 1949 from Stadium High School, then attended UPS majoring in singing and business. Dottie sang soprano and solo at the First Baptist Church in Tacoma.
At nineteen she met the love of her life, Bob Johnson, and married him one year later on Aug. 18, 1951. They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
Dorothea worked at Camp Murray as a secretary during the early part of her marriage. She devoted the rest of her life to her family. She supported her husband in his law enforcement career and the raising of their two children.
As the kids grew, she became an avid bridge player and played regularly.
Dorothea is survived by her husband Robert Johnson, son Bob Johnson (Sandra), daughter Christine Johnson (Mike) and eight grandchildren; Troy, Curtis, Shaun, Sandy, Jimi, Matt, Danielle, and Joe. And loving dog "Hey You".
She was a very strong and intelligent woman who managed her family with the best of loving care. She was truly beautiful inside and out and could offer anyone she knew great words of wisdom and incredible encouragement. There just aren't the words to say to express how much she will be missed and how much she is loved by her family and friends. Her strong will and determination to live was indescribable and left huge footprints on all of our hearts. Now at peace, she always said, "This too shall pass..." with love.
