Doris Rosina Shoemaker's Obituary
Doris Rosina Shoemaker was born to parents Herkimer and Blodwen Aylesworth March 29th, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington. She was the third of five children.
As a young girl, she attended Fern Hill Elementary, Stewart Junior High, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944.
After graduation, she began her career as a secretary at McChord Airforce Base. She later worked as a seamstress at Days Clothing and eventually as co-owner/operator at Stanley Garage Door of Tacoma.
Doris was married to Darreld Unsin on September 16th, 1949, and to David Shoemaker on August 3rd, 1984.
She retired in 2001 after working for 50 years. After retirement, she spent much of her time landscaping at home and maintaining their property on the ocean.
Doris was dignified, classy, artistic, and patient. Throughout her life she loved to work in the garden, golf, and sew. She enjoyed country and big band/swing music and listened especially to Nat King Cole and Andy Williams.
She passed away September 11th, 2020 in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 94.
Doris was a dedicated wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her children, husband David, and a host of special friends and relatives including Art & Louise Minch, and Ake & Bronka Sundstom.
