Doris L. Sahlberg's Obituary
Doris L. Sahlberg, 91 of Lakewood, Washington passed away at home June 4, 2017. Born on her grandparent’s farm May 25, 1926 in Lake Park, Minnesota to August and Esther Lindstrom.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents August and Esther, and husband Charles.
She is survived by her brother Charles; daughters Renee (Anthony) Ford and Gail Brooks; grandchildren Van Brooks and Molly Ford; great-grandchildren Kyler Brooks and Lauryn Ford and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Doris married Charles Sahlberg January 3, 1948. They came to Washington on their honeymoon and remained. Charles was the consummate “Swedish” home builder and together they built their home overlooking Lake Steilacoom where Doris lived for 52 years.
Doris was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was active in quilting, Miriam circle and the senior trips they offered.
Doris lived by the four “F’s,” Family, Faith, Friends and Fun. She enjoyed being part of the Scandinavian Club at PLU, the retired Eagles group, her pinnacle group, bus trips to the casinos, traveling the world with family and friends, meeting with her McDonald’s coffee group, and watching (coaching) the Mariners.
She will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service for Doris will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 8211 112th St. S.W., Lakewood.
