Doris Mae Owens' Obituary
Our dearest mother Doris Owens went home to be with her Lord on March 9, 2006. Doris was born on January 18, 1932 in Scooba, MS to the late union of Jack and Tempa Hinton. She was the eldest of two children. Doris was raised in Columbus, MS where she met and fell in love with Jim Owens. They were married for 58 years.In 1950 Jim and Doris moved to Tacoma and were blessed with six children. Doris accepted Christ and at an early age adn in Tacoma, she united with the Central Church of Christ. Doris was an employee of St. JosephÂ's Hospital and retired after 37 years of service. Doris was a dedicated employee and manager who was respected and loved by all. She devoted her time mentoring students at McCarver Elementary and encouraged a good education. In her spare time you could always find Doris outside planting, pruning, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature.Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jim. She leaves to cheris her memory, her sister Deloris (Tom) Thomas, sons Van (Trina) Owens and Daryl (Virginia) Owens, daughters Marcia (Clifford), Deborah (Harold), Sheilah (Travis) Raynor and Regina (Rick) Espinoza; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, aunt Aslean Young, cousin Willie Lee, sister-in-law Ossie (Oscar) Johnson, brother-in-law Dempsey (Estelle) Owens, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.Doris was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend to those she loved. She will be missed by all.Visitation will be held from 1-9 PM on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Central Church of Christ, 1402 S. Â"LÂ" St., Tacoma.
