Doris Marilyn Lemar's Obituary
Born and raised in the small farming community of Tingley, Iowa, to Lloyed and Evelyn England, in 1930, Doris was the 2nd of 6 children. Doris graduated from Tingley High School in 1948. She went on to attend Chillicothe Business College, at Chillicothe, Missouri in 1949-50. She was the U.S Military at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and later married a GI, Curtis Lemar, her husband of 68 years! They were stationed in Germany, 1951-1953., where they traveled all over the continent, before returning once again to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Doris gave birth to 2 children there, a son James Michael, in 1954 and a daughter Barbara Jean in 1956. Then on to Alaska in 1957, where Doris gave birth to another son John David in 1958. The family celebrated Alaska state hood in 1959 while there. 1960 Doris and her family moved to Seattle, Washington and then, In 1966, to Europe, for 4 years. Living in Paris, France and later Worms, Germany. She and her family traveled from London, England to Pompeii, Italy, Madrid to Amsterdam. Returning to the Tacoma, Washington area in 1970. Doris returned to work and was especially proud of the work she did with returning Vietnam War veterans suffering from PTSD during her time working at the Veterans Hospital at American Lake . She received a commendation award at her retirement ceremony for her work there, in 1989. She wasn't done though. She traveled once more to Europe, this time traveling through-out the British Isles and Ireland with her daughter, Barb.
She is survived by her 3 children, James M. Lemar, Lakewood, WA; Barbara J.Chambers, Olympia, WA; and John D. Lemar, Tacoma, WA. Grandsons, James Cole Lemar and Chance Morgan Lemar, also of Lakewood, WA. Great grandson; Caydon Cash Lemar, born in March of 2019. Her Brothers, Robert England, Larry England, and Bill England, all of Tingley, IA., and sister Myrna Spurlock, Maryville, MO. A younger brother, Jim England, formally of Tingley, IA., Preceded her in death. Doris is remembered most for her love of travel, being very intelligent with a very quick wit! She was an avid reader and lover of German Shepard Dogs, having had 5 over the years -all named Deana!
