Donna Jane Hershberger's Obituary
Donna J. Hershberger, age 71, died early November 30th at her son’s residence in Tacoma, WA. She had recently relocated from Seneca, SC to the Tacoma area. She was a graduate of West Virginia University with a Master’s in early childhood development. She spent her early adult years teaching English as a second language in Paraguay South America. For much of her career, she taught early childhood development at Northwest State Community College in Archbold, OH. She was a member of University Lutheran church in Clemson, SC and opened her home to international exchange students from Vietnam, China, Azerbaijan, Guatemala, Paraguay, Switzerland, Korea, Belgium, Paraguay, Finland, Japan, France, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Thailand, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
Donna J Hershberger was born on January 19th, 1951, in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Alfred Burrell “Al” and Pauline “Pauly” (Stalnaker) Powell. She was raised in Clarksburg, WV. She married Doug R. Hershberger in Montpelier, OH, on July 12th, 1980.
Donna is survived by her son Dan (Alisha) Hershberger of Tacoma, WA; her grandchildren, Issac, Eliana, Amiah, and Elliott Hershberger; her sisters Adele (Ed) O’Shields of Seneca, SC and Diane Kincaid of Westminster, SC; her niece, Crystal (Chris) Washington of Atlanta, GA; and her nephew, Chad (Tina) Simons of Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Andrew Hershberger, and nephew, Shane Simons.
A memorial service was held December 10th, 2022 at University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC with cremation services in Tacoma, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to the national 4-H organization in Donna’s memory (https://4-h.org/).
