Donald Joe York's Obituary
Don lived a life marked by dedication to family, a passion for adventure and an unwavering sense of dependability. Don was well known in the Tacoma community as the co-owner of South Way Motors, a business he proudly ran alongside his brother, Tom. Together they built more than just a car dealership, they created a trusted name and gathering place for those who appreciated hard work and honest service.
Beyond his professional life, Don found immense joy in spending time with family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Teresa York, and sons, John York and Michael York. His bond with Michael extended beyond family ties into shared adventures. Don especially cherished touring with him racing motorbikes, a pursuit that brought them closer.
Don’s love for motorcycles was legendary. Friends and neighbors always knew when he was near. The unmistakable roar of his prized 2003 Screaming Eagle 100th Anniversary Special Harley announced his arrival long before he came into view. That bike wasn’t just a machine, it was an extension of Don’s spirit—bold, loyal, and full of life.
He was deeply loved by those around him and held in high regard as everyone’s hero. Whether you needed a helping hand or simply someone to count on, Don was always there, steadfast and true. His presence brought comfort and strength to many.
Don is also remembered by his sister, Dottie Mazza, and brother, Tom York.
He now joins in rest his parents, John and Detta York, his brother, Johnnie Leo York, Jr., and nephew, Neil John Mazza.
May the memory of Don Joe York bring comfort to all who knew him. His legacy of loyalty, love for the open road and steadfast support will live on in the hearts of many.
