Colonel Don and my Father lived together while serving in the US Army in Vassincourt, France in 1955. They spent much time traveling through Europe including in France, England, Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.

I first visited Colonel Don in Seattle in 1992 and spent many trips visiting with him in Colorado.

Colonel Don was a passionate supporter of many causes, including our Military, his beloved University of Washington and his fraternity. Thank you for all of memories.

Saddened to hear of Don's passing, but glad to have served under him in Korea in '69-'70 and known him as a friend. Visited several times in Colorado Springs in the 70's and camped together on Lake Powell.

Don was a beloved, loyal friend, and he always took a sincere interest in me, truly like a father. We traveled to many Husky away games together. He was a great traveler, always open to any adventure, any quirky restaurant or tavern that I would lead him to. Whether it be a pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay, or finding ourselves as the only non-Hispanic people in a restaurant in the Hispanic part of Tuscon, or happening upon an artsy cocktail party at the Embarcadero in San Francisco, Don was up for anything.
He was also a great supporter of the Husky Marching Band, and he knew all of our songs and traditions. To you Don, GO HUSKIES! A chorus of Bow Down and the Alma Mater I sing to you. Thank you so much Don.

I met Don in the early 80s when I was a member of AFCEA and Don was on the board. Over the years we became good friends and saw each other many times in different places. Don's zest for life was contageous and I always admired how he spend so much time with friends all over the world. He was a true patriot and he will be missed. He was certainly one of my role models.

Colonel Wiethuecter was a part of my family's life for over 60 years. He and my father served together at Fort Lewis in the early 1950s. Don knew me all my life. Some of my earliest childhood memories involved Don, including he and my father losing me at the New York Worlds Fair in 1964. He was a guest at our home many times on his way to and from various duty stations and in his many travels after his retirement.
