DONALD LEROY NELSON
September 11, 1921 to November 23, 2014
Donald (Don) LeRoy Nelson was born in Elgin, Nebraska and passed away in Olympia, Washington after a long and wonderful life. He and his wife Virgie made the Tacoma area their home for their 58 years of marriage until her passing in January 2004. They opened Ponders Auto Parts in 1959 and managed that business until their retirement in 1986. Don took great pleasure in fishing, hunting, traveling and visiting casinos throughout his life. He was very proud to have been a Marine who served in WWII. His love for people and life left a mark on everyone that met him.
He is survived by daughters Linda Charboneau and Sheryl Nelson; grandchildren Renee (Barry) Kirk, Danielle (Tom) Weller-Roche, D-Ann Weller, Troy Charboneau, Jason (Desiree) Magno and Isaac (LeQuta) Weller; great grandchildren Cory Baumgarten, Taylor Kirk, Tyler Baumgarten, Isaiah Weller, Andre Magno, Spencer Kirk, Luke Wilt, Tristin Charboneau, Heather-Lynn Kirk, Donovan Magno, Cody Charboneau and Hannah Wilt. He is also survived by his sister Milli Swanson and brother Richard Nelson. He is preceded in death by his daughter Donna Weller and brother Dean Nelson.
Memorial service will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at Mountain View Memorial Park Aspen Chapel at 2:00 pm with viewing at 1:00 pm.
