Don was a Jungleer and proud of it. He was an important and integral part of E Company, 163rd Infantry, 41st Infantry Division at a time when the 163rd faced very trying times. He was a G.I. that stood head and shoulders above many of his comrades. As editor of The Jungleer I, along with my wife Carol, wish to extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Helen and their children, gandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although I have not seen my brother Don and my sister-in-law Helen in several years, we have kept in touch via telephone. I have great memories of our childhood together, Don and I are less than a year apart in age I am the ‘bigÂ’ brother. Growing up in Spokane, we did everything together, sharing the same classes in elementary school and attending the same high school. We graduated from Lewis & Clark in January 1939, bought a 1929 or 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. We shared our car and when we dated, we would swap week-ends. Sometime after high school we drifted apart, Don joined the National Guard in 1940 and in 1941 I joined the Army Air Corps.

I knew Major Don Hulin for 44 years and I saw him go from vital Army Officer fighting for our nation to fighting his private battle with the infirmities of old age and he always had a warrior's spirit.
