Donald D. Hays' Obituary
Donald was born March 24, 1924 and called to his heavenly home June 10, 2005.He was the 2nd of 7 children born to Donald and Esther Hays in rural Kansas. The family moved to the Portland area when he was a teenager. It was there that he completed his education and married Adeline Cowing, his wife of 61 years.After beginning his business career in banking he moved to Lakewood and pursued the real estate profession, becoming Pres. of the Tacoma/Pierce County Board of Realtors 1967-1968. He was instrumental in forming the local Multiple Listing Service, and enjoyed the challenge of working in the field of commercial real estate. Most important to Don was serving his Lord, and Lake City Community Church offered that opportunity. At various times he filled the office of Board Chairman, Church Clerk, Missionary Division Chair; and also ushered and taught Sunday School.In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by their sons, Randolph (Denise) of Lakewood and Bradley (Sandra) of Univ. Pl., and daughter, Janlyn of West Linn, OR; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one great-grandson.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sat. June 18 at Lake City Community Church, 8810 Lawndale Ave. SW, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the ChurchÂ's building fund.
