Donald W. Benson
MACV, 1st SG Donald W. Benson Passed away at home with family at his side on Sept. 13, 2012. Don was born in Spokane, Wa., April 9, 1939 to Alfonse and Helen Benson. Don served his country for 23 yrs., receiving many commendations, and retired in 1979 from the Army. He worked at the AMVETS Post 1 for 13 yrs., where he was also a member, retiring Nov. 1992. Don met the love of his life, Linh, in Jan. 1967 and married her in Feb. 1972. He is servived by his wife, Linh, daughter Hanh (Alan), daughter Kim (David), son Greg (Heather) and grandchildren Sarah, Virginia, Aliera, Logan, Journey and Angela. Don was preceded in death by his parents and son Garold. Don had a love for baseball, football, camping and fishing. But most of all, he loved his family. Don and his family would like to give special thanks to Franciscan Hospice for the wonderful care he received. A viewing will be held at Mountain View on Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. His service will be held at Mountain View Valley Chapel on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. Graveside service at 2 p.m. Potluck at AMVETS Post 1 following service.
