Don L. Smith's Obituary
Don “L” Smith Sr. born in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 2, 1945 where he spent his earlier years. He also lived in such areas as South Korea and in Washington State.
He was a hard working man who had jobs ranging from a paper route, to a bus boy, to a bus driver. Don also served a few years in the United States Air force, but finally chose to have a career in the US Army. He entered the Army on August 10, 1971 and retired November 16, 1994 as a Sergeant First Class (E-7). While in the military he was stationed in such locations as South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and lastly Ft. Lewis, WA.
After his retirement, he drove buses for Totem Coaches. He went on to become a professional truck driver for Interstate Distributor Company where he worked for 10 years.
Don loved to play his guitar. He started at a very young age, and played for many groups such as The Traveling Souls, The Mighty Clouds of Joy of Ft. Worth, TX, The Unique Astrolites, and finally with the Gospel Echoes. There were also a number of choirs he played for at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
His only passion was not only his guitar. Motorcycles shared an equal part of his heart. He had no affiliations to any clubs. All you needed to do to ride with him was cruise slow and love the Lord while you did it.
His parents, David MacQueenette and Clara Mae Ethley preceded him in death. He leaves to celebrate his life wife Chong Im Smith, sister Deborah Wheaton, son Don Lee Smith, daughter Donna L. Smith, son Don “L” Smith, as well as other relatives and a host of friends and other loved ones.
