Don Lee Hutchinson's Obituary
Â"HutchÂ" died peacefully Saturday, April 12, 2003 with his loving wife Pat at his side. He was 71 years of age. As a child he moved around the country while his dad worked for the railroad. He attended the University of Idaho, where he majored in forestry and met and married Betty Jo Riggs. After college he began a life long career with Weyerhaeuser Company. Each new promotion took them to another town, where they made many wonderful friends and raised four daughters. When the family settled in Tacoma in 1966 Hutch and B.J. joined the Mountaineers and they summited Mt. Rainier and all other major peaks of the Northwest. They also trekked in the Himalayas and the Swiss and French Alps. During this time his talent for natural photography developed. His hiking and traveling resulted in an enormous collection of incredible photographs. Before retiring from Weyerhaeuser after 37 years Hutch helped conceive and create the Western Trading Center. In retirement he was never happier than when he was fishing. He shared this love with his wife Pat, whom he married in 1996. Together with their precious four-legged friend Mona, they enjoyed many wonderful fishing trips aboard Â"The Nobel OneÂ". He planned a yearly trip to Telegraph Cove where family and his special group of fishing buddies often joined them.He is survived by his wife Patricia, his four daughters and 8 grandchildren: Debbie and Kevin Kernen, Travis, Shane; Resa & Chad Moore, Ladd, Mackenzie; Marylin Hutchinson, Elmo & Calvin Clapp; LeeAnn & Riley Loftin, Sarah, Riggs; three step children and 4 step grandchildren: Robert Welcher, Wendy Ceyler (Terry) Dylan, Victoria, Sophia; Rachel Crossman (Edward) Gabrielle. His granddaughter Alyssa Â"LissyÂ" Moore preceded him in death.Visitation hours are Thursday, April 17th, 12-9 p.m. and Friday, April 18th, 8-10 a.m..
