Dolores M. Skanes' Obituary
Dolores M. Skanes, age 85 of Puyallup, passed away on April 27, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Roslyn, Washington to Nick and Theresa Skladony on October 27, 1931.
Dolores attended Hawthorn Elementary, Gult Junior High and Lincoln High School where she met the love of her life Jack Skanes. They were married August 4, 1951 at Holy Rosary Church in Tacoma.
She was a member of the Carpenter’s #470 Ladies Auxiliary, Geranium Society, Catholic Community Services, cake decorator and a member of All Saint’s Catholic Church. She has lived at Brookdale the last 9 years. She has made many friends while living there. She loved her music, bingo and Dancing with the Star’s on Monday nights when it is on. She loved to dance where ever she was whenever she heard any music. She lived life to the fullest and looked at the good in everyone. She loved to look at her mountain (Mt. Rainier) from her apartment window and to watch the airplanes go by and she was always marveled at how God made the world.
Dolores is preceded in death by her Husband Jack Skanes and sister Vivian Kjellesvick. She is survived by her 3 sons and their wives Randy and Sue, Patrick and Michelle, Douglas and Kim and her sister Shirley Larson. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dolores is now dancing with the Angels and rooting for her Mariners.
Services for Dolores will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3:00pm at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Aspen Chapel with Celebration of life Reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lymphoma Society or if we can remember correctly, The Alzheimer’s Association.
