I am Dolores's cousin related to her through her father Michael "Mickey" McKenna. I live in Massachusetts which is where the McKenna family settled after emigrating from the city of Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. Mickey was a career military man and that's how he met Dolores' mother, Zena. At the time he was stationed at Ft. Lewis. For whatever reason, the marriage between Mickey and Zena did not last and he lost touch with Zena and her children after leaving Ft. Lewis. Ultimately, Mickey re-married and settled in Springfield, Massachusetts where he died in 1970. He did not have any children with his second wife.
I've always been curious about my family and while researching the McKenna family several years ago, I learned of Dolores and her brother. I was able to make contact via phone and we've been in touch from time to time ever since. I was able to provide to Dolores, a picture of her father Mickey along with Mickey's brother John. By the way, my grandmother Alice was Mickey's sister so Dolores was my first cousin once removed.
Please feel free to contact me if there are questions about our common family. I'm very sorry for your loss and my biggest regret is that I never was able to meet personally with Dolores. Perhaps some day, I can meet with other members of the family.
