Dolores Lee Gibbons' Obituary
Dolores "Dee" Lee Gibbons February 9, 1928 ~ May 18, 2008 "I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter." - Winston Churchill Dolores "Dee" Gibbons left us peacefully, surrounded by family. Known for her active and feisty spirit, Dee was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was ever willing to show pictures and tell stories of her grandkids. Dee has been a Tacoma resident all her life, graduating from Stadium High School and the College of Puget Sound, where she was a member of the Pi Phi sorority and the Adelphian Choir. Later, she received a Master's Degree in Education from PLU. After 25 years of teaching in the Tacoma School District, she retired and enjoyed spending time as a Red Hat Lady. Dolores is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lora and Otto Klaiber. She is survived by her children, Denise Burrough (David), Paul Gibbons (Tracy), and Darcy Goodrich (Larry); her grandchildren, Jennifer Zamira (Kevin), and Otto and Anna Gibbons; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson Zamira; and her beloved dogs, Whisper and Truman. The family wishes to thank Lisa, our caregiver, and the in-home Hospice staff for their kind and generous care, as well as the wonderful services provided by the Franciscan Hospice House of University Place, who provided a great source of comfort for Dolores and her loved ones. Private services have been held. Friends are welcomed to celebrate Dolores' life at her daughter's home at a later date. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Dolores' name to the Franciscan Hospice House of University Place or the Pierce County Humane Society. We love you, Mom!
