Dieter Wolfgang Herforth's Obituary
We are here together for me to share, with you, the life of one man, Dieter Wolfgang Herforth. At the age of 74, the Lord called him home by name. Dieter was the name given to him at birth in Germany. Through the years, he impacted the lives of so many that he was blessed with other names. I would like to share some of those names with you. Inspiring, creative, generous and selfless were his names. Hardworking, supportive, strong and teacher were also his name. Some called him positive, grounded, uplifting, proud, faithful, provider, humble and life changing. He was heartfelt, family oriented, dedicated, helpful and attentive. Many shared that he was thoughtful, gentle and lived the life of a servant. Now, these were not his only names. More commonly, he was called husband, father, brother and son. He was Uncle, Opa (Grandfather), and friend. He was also an immigrant, a christian, and an American.
Dieter led his life by example and this example radiated to anyone around him. Both inside the home and out within the community. Dieter led by example with knowledge and a contagious persona. He was part of a numerous organizations and one thing in common with these groups is that their focus is to improve the lives of others. This dedication, I believe, truly impacted even more lives, including some he may have never met. Why? Not for the glory but because it was the right thing to do. These morals he strived to pass on to his children and he was successful. Throughout is life, he lived and taught with a servant’s heart.
Yes, he is survived by his wife, four children, two sisters, two grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and in-laws. This is only by blood. There are so many more. In the coming days, many will hear the name Dieter Herforth. If they knew him, they will weep at the fact that Dieter’s life ended so soon. They will also share moments of joy and stories of how their lives changed for the better because of Dieter.
Please come and share your stories at the memorial service for Dieter Herforth.
