Dick A. Poulsen's Obituary
Dick A. Poulsen Sr. 1930-2008 Dick passed away peacefully at his residence in Phoenix, Arizona on February 23. He was born in Ventura, CA. on November 2, 1930 to Kai and Ruby Poulsen. Dick moved to Tacoma and on July 3, 1952, he married Dorothy June Berg. He spent many years in the vending business, often working late into the night with June keeping him company while he repaired vending machines. As they grew their family of three, Diane, Dick Jr, and Debbie, he and June discussed and finally started their own company in 1967. Tac-Matic Vending became very successful over the years earning Dick many regional and national industry leadership awards. They sold their business and retired in 1987. Dick and June moved to the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club becoming avid golfers and making many new friends. Retirement and these friendships introduced them to the warmer climate of Arizona where they later joined the Palmbrook Golf and Country Club. Following the death of his wife in June of 1999, Dick elected to move full-time to Phoenix, Arizona, where he remained in his home until his death. Dick is survived by his daughter Diane Wing (husband Dan), son Dick "JR", and daughter Debbie Mowre (husband Stanley) as well as his brother Don Poulsen (wife Millie) of Palm Springs, CA, brother-in-law John Berg of Poulsbo; sister-in-law Darleen Poulsen of Wenatchee, sister-in-law Marta Berg of Tacoma, his six grandchildren, John-Mark, Nick, Ben, Jonathan, Alex and Chelsea, many cousins and special friend Jean Rau. Funeral Services will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma, Garden Chapel, at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 29. A gathering at Oakbrook for friends and family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's name to Americare Hospice, 1103 S. Mea Drive, Ste. 2, Mesa, AZ 85210.
