Diane Armstrong's Obituary
Diane (Hunt) Armstrong 1945-2024
Diane was born and raised in Tacoma. She attended Grant and Lowell Elementary, Mason and Hunt Junior High Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963.
Diane found the love of her life and loving husband Wayne while attending Central Washington College. Shortly before graduating, she and Wayne married and later made their life in Tacoma.
Diane loved working with children and spent thirty years at Lowell Elementary School teaching grades second, third and fourth. She was recognized in Who’s Who of American Teachers for her outstanding contributions to elementary education. Many lasting relationships with staff and the community were made there.
At First Presbyterian Church, Diane was a 70-year member. She was able to serve the church in a variety of ways including Sunday School teacher, MOPS mentor, nursery helper and greeter. She lived her life as a disciple of Christ and supported others in this journey. She encouraged people, was a good listener and a true caring friend. She loved and was much loved by her church family.
Diane was dedicated to the community in which she lived. She was a member of the Westgate Orthopedic Guild for over 30 years, a March of Dimes campaigner, PTA member and volunteer at local schools.
Her family wishes to thank Dr. Chen, Dr. Masood, the oncology staff, nurses at Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare hospice staff for their efforts and care. Diane and Wayne also wish to give recognition to their neighbors who have been so supportive. Special thanks to Dr. Eric Jacobsen for his loving and dedicated support.
Diane is survived by Wayne, her husband of 58 years, daughter Michelle (Brian) Berggren, grandchildren Sofia and Blake, Jennifer (Matt) Werner, grandchildren, Ross and Finn, sister Janice (Ken) Brownlee, brothers-in-law Gerald (Mary) Armstrong and Peter (Sheryl) Armstrong.
She was blessed by her many friendships.
