Denzil H. Byrd's Obituary
Denzil (Dan) H. Byrd was born May 6, 1926 in LaSalle, Illinois and passed away December 31st in Tacoma, Washington.
Dan served in the US Army during World War II. He then worked for 18 years at West Tacoma News Print. He later became a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 40 years. He was known for his jokes and storytelling as well as always having a smile on his face. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing , taking adventures in his rv and going to the casino. He loved spending time with his family.
Dan is survived by his wife Mildred (Maunder) of 24 years, daughter Peggy (Joe) Fugate of Puyallup, son Larry Byrd of Tacoma, grandchildren Therese (Joe) Whitham, Angie (Chris) Bueneman, Paula McDonald, Kelly (Shaunie) Fugate, Shad Fugate, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Dessa (Bennett) Byrd, brothers Leslie, Victor, Raymond, Delbert, Carl, Ernest and George, sisters Mildred, Marjorie and Pauline, and Step-son Barry Nelson.
