Dennis R. Schneider's Obituary
Dennis (Denny) R. Schneider, 50, Beloved husband, son, father, papa & friend.Passed away unexpectedly Sunday Dec.29, 2002. Denny's love was in his work. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and for many years as a Lieutenant for the State Dept. of Corrections in Clallam Bay, most recently he worked as an officer at McNeil Island. He also specialized in hostage negotiations and the Emergency Response Team for the State of WA. Denny poured his heart into everything he did , including his family, wife and soulmate Evy. They had wed only 3 short years ago but delighted in each other everyday.Denny was preceded in death by his father Lester and sister Sharon (Pederson). Survivors include, wife Evy, mother Esther, children Lester (Stephanie) and Tracy, stepchildren Sandi, Troy and Roman, grandchildren Brooke, Sara and Jordy, sister Jan, brother Wayne, and many extended family & friends who will greatly miss him. Please join us in a celebration of Denny's life Saturday, January 4th, 2003 1 P.M. at Mt. View Cemetery. Graveside service is at 12:30 P.M. His first non-military employment was with the Pierce County Sheriffs Dept.In the early 1980's he began a career with the Washington State Department of Corrections. He married and raised 2 children, Lester and Tracy. He was the proud grandparent of Brooke, Sara, and Jordy. He was especially fond of his nieces, nephews, and cousins. In 1999, he married Evy, his soulmate, partner, and best friend. He had a special love for his stepchildren: Sandi, Roman, and Troy, who rewarded him in return with love and respect. His career with the Corrections included assignments at McNeil Island and Clallam Bay. He specialized in Hostage Negotiations and served on the Emergency Response Team. He also participated in Union Negotiations. He recieved numerous awards for oustanding service throughout his career. He was close to acheiving Rank of Captin.Denny loved hunting, salmon and halibut fishing, and family camping. He enjoyed the outdoors and clam digging. Other interests included sports, especially following his favorite teams, the Seahawks and the Mariners. Throughout his life he performed with numerous bands as a drummer or vocalist. He was especially good at Elivs impersonations. He preformed with serveral bands and performing artists, including Merilee Rush.Denny lived a life of giving. Many hours were given to volunteer work with children through caoching little league baseball and football. He sponsered kids in fishing derbies. He played Santa Claus for many relatives, friends, and neighbors. He also participated in Christmas parties and events for his Co-workers. Many special relationships mark Denny's life. Mother, Esther's memory of last Mothers Day was going to a Mariners game with Denny. She is "especially thankful for Denny always being there for her and being her buddy." Like his sister, Sharon, he stole our hearts. It only took a few minutes to become his friend.
