Dennis Newton's Obituary
Dennis Newton was born in Sasebo, Japan on December 17, 1954. Dennis was the firstborn of 5 children born to Arbra Dan and Tsutae Newton and was big brother to June, Alice, Linda, and Bobby. At age 10, Dennis survived the Alaska earthquake, which was an experience he never forgot. Sometime after that, the Newton Family moved to Tacoma, WA.
Dennis attended Wilson High School, spent time in the Army National Guard, lived for a while in California, then returned to Tacoma to begin employment at The Boeing Company in 1978, retiring as a numerical-control machinist after 30 years employment.
In 1980, Dennis married Mamie Marshall and together they raised their three children, Dennis, Alexis, and Chiaki. Dennis was a family man and made sure his little family was always taken care of, that he brought his wife flowers every chance he got (the girls always got a bouquet too); that he attended his kids’ MANY sporting, musical, and church-sponsored events, and taught them how to be well-behaved, good people. One of his joys was going fishing and teaching his children to fish.
A member of Deliverance Bible Church for many years (Samuel May was his pastor), Dennis served as a deacon, the “Minister of Maintenance” (a term he dubbed himself), on the sound ministry and as part of the men’s ministry. Dennis loved to say: “Praise the Lord” and even had it printed on his bible cover.
Dennis went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 5, 2021. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Arbra Dan and Tsutae Newton. Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis Sadaji Newton (Michelle), Alexis Salinas (Jerry), and Chiaki Dodge (Tim) his siblings, June Johnson, Alice Shipman (Greg), Linda Carter (Phil) and Bobby Newton (Kelly); his grandchildren, Dallas, Miles, Amaya, Kairo, Sire and Kailey; as well as a HOST of nieces and nephews
