Dennis Norman Martin's Obituary
Dennis N. Martin passed away on March 4, 2025 in Yuma, AZ. Dennis was born on Jan. 19, 1948, to Winnifred and Norman Martin of Tacoma, WA. His family and friends remember him by his witty sense of humor, the gift to gab, and his fullness of life. He had a way of making friends out of a stranger. He enjoyed many hobbies such as; hunting, fishing, dirt bike riding, operating heavy equipment, mechanics, ham radio operator, but his love for jeeps was one of his favorites. He and his wife have been members of the Tacoma Webfooter Jeep club for over 51 years. To say he enjoyed watching his grandkids jeep racing is an understatement. When he wasn’t at the races, you would find him with a cigar in the hills jeeping, or playing in the Sand Dunes in Coos Bay with his SxS.
Dennis grew up helping his dad at Martin Floor Finishing in Tacoma, WA. He eventually owned and operated the floor business. Dennis worked along his parents to build and develop Martin’s Mobile Home Park. He eventually retired from Martin Floors. Dennis and wife Kathy found themselves traveling often. They enjoyed wintering at their home in Yuma, AZ. Dennis somehow always made his way to the desert to watch the Mint and the Parker races. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Reno with the family where they originally honeymooned in 1973. We celebrated with a race to the checkered flag with the fastest go-carts they had in Reno, a trip to Summit Racing, and a lesson to the grandkids on how to do burn outs in a rental car. Dennis lived his life to the fullest and how we will remember him by.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathy Martin; sister, Lorraine Reed; four kids, Machelle (Ryan) Flowers, Adrienne (Dustin) Mohan, Naomi (Dave) Shimek, Denny (Shanna) Martin; and his five grandchildren, Rylan and Rollie Flowers, Corbin Mohan, Brock and Hayden Martin.
In honor Dennis, a celebration of life will be held on April 26th at the Tacoma Sportsman’s Club, 16409 Canyon Rd E, Puyallup, WA 98375 from 2:00-5:00pm. Link to Mt. View www.mountainviewtacoma.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel for Towers Foundation.
