Dennis A. Criss' Obituary
Dennis A. Criss
Dennis A. Criss, age 77, died Saturday, March 24 after many years of struggling with injuries resulting from a car accident, and, most recently, complications from a stroke. He was born to George and Madeline Criss in Stuart, Nebraska on January 9, 1935. From there his family moved to Denver, where he lived until he joined the U.S. Army in 1953. He served in the Army at both Fort Campbell, Kentucky and later in Korea. He was a paratrooper, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. On September 1, 1955 he married Joyce Taylor. When Dennis returned from Korea in 1956, they settled in Denver. His insurance, sales and warehousing career took him to positions in various states, ultimately settling in Federal Way, Washington in 1969. Dennis began buying and selling precious metals in 1974, which led him to establish Tacoma Mall Coin and Stamp in 1977. He remained in the business until he was involved in a serious car accident in 1991. Dennis is survived by Joyce, his wife of 56 years, son Rene' Criss and wife Lorraine, daughter Cheryl Cejka and husband Mark, daughter Karen Feldman and husband Russ, grandchildren Sean and Julia Criss, and Nicholas and Sydney Cejka; and sister Sandra Lucas, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will forever be in our hearts and memories. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, 5:00 p.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way.
