Della Mae Lucious (White)'s Obituary
Della Mae Lucius (White) was born April 19, 1930 in Starkville Mississippi to the late Alexander and Thelma (Askew) Lucious. She was the third of twelve children.
The Lord called her home to rest on February 20, 1920 at the age of 88.
Della was married to SFC Harry White Jr. She gave birth to two beautiful children-Virginia M. White (Ginny) and Malvin Daniel White (Dan), who became her reasons for living and loving. Della was a born caregiver. She served as and retired from the Department of the Army as a nurse for Madigan Hospital. Upon retiring, she served in the same capacity as a private nurse for families needing care at home, and as a Missionary for Bethlehem Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church, both located in Tacoma, Washington. When she was not providing care for her family and others, Della loved gardening, watching TBN, talking for hours with her siblings, and going to church. She also loved dressing with style and flair. She was renowned for her exquisite collection of fur, suit, shoes, handbags and HATS!! To see her and to know her was to love her and her spirit!
Della was preceded in death by her brothers- Alexander, Willie James, Orrie, Murray Lee and Willie Lucious and her sisters- Thelma Hamilton and Jesse Lucious and her son- Malvin D. White. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter- Virginia White Tacoma, WA, daughter-in-law Lynda Thomas-White, Fircrest, WA, brother- Roscoe Lucious (Ruby), Canton, MS, sisters- Elizabeth Dickerson and Annie Pearl Davis, both of Chicago, IL, Bessye Tucker (Frank) of Bourbonnais, IL, best friend Marion Johnson, Tacoma, WA, friends, neighbors, members of Bethlehem and Eastside Baptist Churches and a host of grands, great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
Della Mae will be missed dearly by all who loved her!
Funeral Services will be held at Mountain view Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21st, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Garden Chapel. Repast will immediately follow the services in the Celebration of Life Center's Oak Room.
