Della Joyce Jones' Obituary
Della Jones (DJ to her friends) passed from this life into the arms of her Lord on January 5th, 2010 at the Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma following a brief illness. Born June 28, 1933 in Barnard, Missouri to parents David Kenneth Bare and Lela Mae Collins Bare, she lived a life of quiet faith and loving devotion to family and friends. Raised in Missouri, she lived in Michigan and Southern California before moving to Tacoma in the 1970s. She raised two sons and supported her family with over 30 years of service as a retail clerk. After retiring, she was an active volunteer with the Order of Cootie in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars here in Tacoma. As a Cootie, she was devoted to hospital visitation. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Crystal, and her husband Raymond Jones, and survived by her sons Kenneth and Robert, five grandchildren (Paul, Rebecca, Mary, Gregory and Sarah Hunter), her brother David, and many beloved family members. She is remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her for her sweetness, her laughter, her unfailing kindness and her persevering devotion as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. The Mountain View Funeral Home will oversee the viewing on Tuesday January 12 from 4 till 9 pm, and the funeral at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13 in the Garden Chapel. Della's son, the Reverend Kenneth Hunter of Oneonta, New York, will conduct the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the local VFW or the Welcome Home Initiative for returning war veterans.
