DeForest A. Bullock, Retired Air Force Lt. Col.
Went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2010. Forest was born in 1920 in Jamestown New York, to Arthur M. & Marion Fern Bullock. The family moved to Wash. in 1929 and settled in Tacoma, in 1931. Forest participated in Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts, he earned his Eagle rank. He attended Tacoma schools and graduated from Lincoln High school in 1939. Shortly after graduation he met Herta Lange. They were married in February 1942 in Calvary Baptist Church and are still members. They have enjoyed 68 years together. Forest joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served through the War, he was in the Reserves and was recalled during the Korean conflict. In all, he served 28 years in the Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Col. During those years he also completed his education, graduating from the Univ. of Washington. He had several vocations, Journeyman Carpenter, Certified Public Accountant, Tour planner and tour director. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers (Wayne & Carl), 2 sisters (Bernice & Alice) and his daughter Barbara Tiffany. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie Beaudoin (and her former husband Skip and their children Louis, Renee and Nicole), son David (and his wife Hope and their children Joy and Esther) and Barbara's family (her husband Doug and son Eric), as well as many nephews and nieces. Forest had many interests. He liked to build things and repair things to make them work. He liked history, geography, geology, forestry and to travel. During his Air Force career, his tours, his travel as an accountant to audit, and just their personal travels together, he visited all of the 50 states, most of Canada and many European and Asian countries. He enjoyed helping others to enjoy these things as well, and to find ways for just enjoying life.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Tacoma at 10:00 AM on December 11, 2010. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to his memorial at Calvary Baptist Church.
