Dean Cornelius' Obituary
On April 6, 2006 in Puyallup, WA, Dean Cornelius passed on to join his wife of 37 year, Alta. Born September 19, 1928 in Eatonville (National), WA to Dorothy and Walter Cornelius. Dean was raised in National then Tacoma, WA. The past 30-years he resided in North Pole, Alaska. Dean enjoyed singing Bass with the Great Land Sounds barbershop group and was a life long member of the Elks, American Legion, and S.P.E.B.S.O.S.A. Dean was a Korean War veteran and an avid sportsman mostly enjoying summers fishing for halibut and Irish Lords with Captain Tom in Homer, Alaska. Dean enjoyed his neighbors Cecil & Doris, Richard, Deb & Alex, and especially adopted family; Bob, Beth, Britini & Brandi. Before moving to Alaska, Dean owned and operated DeanÂ's Auto Body Shop and was past president of Active International Â- Lakewood. Dean is survived by: siblings Barney, Dick and Morris Cornelius, Patsy Hohn and Janet Schmidt; children Penny Swalling, Chuck Spencer, Mona Kuper, Deena Kaelin, Paul and Michael Cornelius and 12 grandchildren. Dean was predeceased by wife Alta, son Douglas Dean Cornelius, brothers Tom and Jack and sister Norma Anderson.
