Dayton Carlton Wetzel's Obituary
THE TRAVELER IS TAKING HIS LAST JOURNEY
Dayton Carlton Wetzel born 20 June, 1929 in Tacoma, Washington, the second son of Carl and Bernice (Bazzar) Wetzel, passed away 19 December, 2020 in Puyallup, Washington at the age of 91.
Dayton was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. After high school he went to Knapp Business College taking accounting and office management. He served for 24 years at Fort Lewis (JBLM) and 6 years in Seoul, South Korea, as the Chief Budget Analyst. Being in Korea inspired him to start traveling. He went to over 100 countries on 6 different continents.
Dayton retired at a young age. He then entered the travel business escorting groups of tourists to Asia, Europe and Africa. Then he worked part-time for the Pierce County Election Center. In his spare time he was a genealogy and gardening nut.
Dayton was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Clayton Andrew Wetzel and David Van Wetzel. He felt his brothers were his best friends. He was also predeceased by great-great Nephew Harrison Wetzel.
Dayton is survived by Sister-In-Law K. Joyce Wetzel, his Nieces Kathleen Ortiz, Carla (Steve) Johnson, Cherie Wetzel, Kristina (Daren) Salstrom, Heather (Chris) Jackson and his Nephews Clinton Wetzel and David (Marietta) Wetzel. Dayton was also survived by a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews and he had many friends.
Dayton requested there be only a private service at this time.
A reception may possibly take place at a later/safer date.
