I can remember as a small kid from the Range, making my first trip to the Twin Ports by myself, being dropped off at Dawn's doorstep in Proctor. I remember opening the porch door and meeting Baron,(?) the boxer. who met me with a grin. I mistook his intentions and sat on the steps waiting for someone to come home, not knowing there was a note on the front door telling me to come in and where to get something to eat. I sat on the front steps and talked to the dog for what to a small kid seemed forever. Then when everyone arrived, Tatsy asked me if I was hungry while Dawn kept the dog from licking me to death and got me to the bathroom. (Dawn seemed to know what the priorities were.) She took this scared kid under her wing and became my friend for life. We were able to go for walks and just talk about anything, being comfortable in each other's company. When i returned from Mooseheart, I was again that scared little kid coming from an extremely sheltered life into the big city. I was starting my life over and didn't know where or how to start. Most everything was new to me. She had me meet her friends, but never the ones that could get me into trouble. We have always, through the years, been able to talk and understand each other about anything and everything. When I returned from Viet Nam, there she was again. We talked...Two failed marriages, we talked...I know that when it's my turn to cross the Rainbow Bridge, I will find Dawn on the other side, waiting to take me under her wing and we'll talk. She'll be greatly missed. Cousin Bruce##imported-begin##Bruce E. Fournier##imported-end##
