David Allen Wright Jr.'s Obituary
David Allen Wright, Jr, 44 of Tacoma, Washington passed away on April 17, 2020. David will be missed and is loved by many family and friends.
Forty-four years ago, David Allen Wright, Jr. came into this world with a joyful noise on a Sunday. His mother attended the morning church service, but a lot happened that day. While the family was relaxing at home Mom said, “It’s time! His grandfather got so excited hearing the news. There he was, ready to go to the hospital, with his blue leisure jumpsuit on inside out. Grandma made him go back in and get himself together. David was their first grandchild. David’s dad served in the U.S. Marines, during the tail-end of the Vietnam War, and later when the thriller movie Jaws came out on David’s birthday 11/9/1975. His mom, in Labor and Delivery, couldn’t believe her eyes. Her Stork Club doctor had hung an over-sized Jaws poster of the shark, with huge teeth from the movie, on the ceiling. Those beady shark-eyes stared down at her watching every contraction. His dad was ecstatic to get orders to fly out from his duty station to rejoin his wife, David’s mom, and hold his firstborn at Madigan Hospital in WA state.
David loved people, all genre's of music, nature, reading, classic cars, fishing, family and the Seahawks. He was a musician, a Cellist in his school's symphony orchestra. Local Lakewood High Schools: Steilacoom, Lakes, and Clover Park sent letters of invitation to attend their schools. Coaches called his mom. They wanted David to play on their football teams, as early as the 8th grade. He studied Biology and Early Child Development at Pierce College. But his passion was sales and marketing. He was an only child and liked being the center of attention, even in Sunday School. His kindheartedness, giving personality and sense of humor lit the room, lightened the mood; it was one of his gifts from God.
David became an avid reader of “How-to books” for personal growth. In his early years and while in college, David earned extra spending money during the summers helping at his mother’s business. He also delivered newspapers, started a window cleaning service and lawn mowing business at ten-years-old for the entire Oakbrook neighborhood without a lawnmower or equipment. He proudly displayed his first $35 check a neighbor paid, when his grandpa noticed the missing gasoline, tools, lawnmower and had to negotiate terms. David tried his hand in various occupations, and received certifications in the operation of Heavy Equipment, Construction, Cement laying, Flagging, and TV cable installation. His love for the car business prevailed. David led the team in sales while employed in Pierce and King County until his passing, April 17, 2020. Like most men, David sacrificed much but got the job done out of love for family. For those of us who knew him best, he had big heart. His life and love will now be a remembrance of his generous nature, and kind spirit. There were some that took his kindness for weakness, while others saw only his strength of character. His aunt Crystal said, “David could sell anything. She didn’t even want the puppy, until he gave me that grin, and winked those brown eyes”.
