David Thomas Rickard David Rickard, age 79, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on July 31, 2009 at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood. David was the youngest of four sons of Samuel and Ada Rickard, born in August of 1929 in Rangoon, Burma. David graduated from Piedmont High School in the Bay Area and Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. In 1960, David married Marcia Savage, who remains his loving wife of 49 years of marriage. He had a distinguished 26 year career in the US Air Force, where he served as a Fighter Pilot and Intelligence Officer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in 1980. David then began a second career in Banking, working for Puget Sound Bank and Columbia Bank in Tacoma. David was an avid outdoorsman and a passionate fly fisherman. He enjoyed sharing his fly-fishing knowledge and skill with many friends over his lifetime. David was a very kind and compassionate man, often going out of his way to help people he barely knew. David loved life, loved his family and loved his country. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and family. He is survived by his wife Marcia and two sons: Matthew (Pam) and Ted (Ilene) and three grandchildren: Ashley, Damon and Trace; his three brothers: Sam (Leesburg, VA), John (Lewisville, NC) and Donald (Pagosa Springs, CO). The family would like to thank the I.C.U. Staff at St. Clare Hospital and Pastor Walt Kellcy of First Baptist Church Lakewood, of which David was an active member. Interment service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on August 14th at 10:15 followed by a Memorial service celebrating David's life at 12 noon at First Baptist Church Lakewood, 5400 112th St. SW Lakewood, WA 98499.
