David Scheidt Jr.'s Obituary
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 49 years, Marguerite. Dave is survived by 3 children: Keith (Karon), Diane and Marty (Karen). He also left behind 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also, he has 1 uncle. He also left behind many friends he met and worked with over the years.
Dave was born and raised in Pierce County. He joined the Navy in 1953 and sailed on the USS Bairoko, One of the interesting thing that he was involved with was watching the Hydrogen Bomb testing on the Bikini Atoll.
After serving in the Navy, he came back to Tacoma and started working at Fort Lewis Logistics Center as a civil service employee in the Post Engineers area. He retired from there in May 1986 after working 35 years. He retired as a Supervisor.
Dave, with Keith’s help, totally restored 3 Jeeps that were wrecked. He used his skills as a mechanic to help anyone who asked. That was part of his retirement plan, to keep on doing mechanic type work. In his spare time Dave loved to travel, fish and hunt. He always owned a camper or motor home so that Marguerite would be comfortable where ever she was. He always wanted the kids and grandkids to go on trips because it was a family thing.
The family wants to thank his primary doctor, Dr. David Law and his staff, for the great care Dave and Marguerite received over the years. Also, we want to say thanks to the staff at Peoples Retirement with whom he shared his candy over the last 7 years. They have been a big part of his life.
Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park at 1:30 Friday June 28th. There will be refreshments afterward in the Oak Room in the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View.
