David Carl Nicholson's Obituary
Our fun loving husband, father and grandfather, David C. Nicholson left us on March 9th, 2018. Born November 14th, 1934 in Tacoma. Graduated from UPS with a BS Chemistry degree. His career began in Centralia, WA at the Weyerhaeuser Forestry Research Center. He retired in 1992 as Environmental Manager in Federal Way after a 33 year career with the company. He is survived by wife Carol of 61 years, sons, Scott and daughter-in-law Claudia, Keith and daughter-in-law Cheryl Lynn, and daughter Barbara, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandsons and sister Carolyn Coe. Preceded in death by son Dean and daughter-in-law Cheryl.
Dave had many interests, gardening, photography,and traveling . He was a Master Gardener, member of the Daffodillians, and Theta Chi Fraternity. He belonged to 3 different Rhododendron Societies, and many of the rhodies that he propagated still are growing in family and friend's yards. He was known for the great vegetables that he grew and had many memorable Corn Feeds. He enjoyed many fun times and great adventures with close friends in a dinner club/ travel group for the past 35 years and several cruising adventures with close friends, Bobby and Jerry.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 24th at 11 am at the Tacoma Elks Lodge located at 2013 S Cedar St, Tacoma, WA 98405. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Research.
