David Mason's Obituary
David L Mason, July 20, 1946 – September 4, 2022, 76. Dave was born in Centralia, WA to D Hugh Mason and M Merline (McKay) Mason. He graduated from Centralia High School and the attended Central College before going into the Air Force. After training he was stationed in Glendale, AZ where he met Bonnie Maxon who he married in 1968. They have two sons, both born in Arizona. He was an electronic technician in the Air Force and continued to use those skills during his work life. Dave and Bonnie lived in CA after getting out of the service and moved back to Phoenix, Arizona in 1973. They bought a new home and made many improvements over the 22 years they lived in Phoenix until they moved to Washington in 1995. During 1979, Dave took a Social Service leave from Xerox to work for UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) for a year and a half. He ran a UCP Telethon in Phoenix for the first time in many years which was very successful. He belonged to the Phoenix Bonsai Society and the Puget Sound Koi Club in Tacoma. He had a love of trains. Collecting N gauge equipment and riding on big trains when he had a chance. Dave enjoyed working on his old 46 truck and the Pontiac he recently acquired. He served as an Elder at Westminster church, helped run the Men’s Ministry and facilitated a Men’s bible study at Rainier View. He is preceded by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, sons Mark (Heather) Colorado and Derek, sister Jeanne and three grandchildren and many cousins. Services will be held at Rainier View Christian Church, 12305 Spanaway Loop Rd, Tacoma, WA Nov 5 at 1 PM. Donations to the Tacoma Humane Society are encouraged. He loved his animals.
