David Herman's Obituary
David went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 11, 2022 at his residence of 52 years with those he loved by his side.
David was born on September 26, 1938 in Hawarden, Iowa to Raymond and Eleanor Herman.
David was raised in Hawarden, Iowa and joined the United States Air Force when he was 17. David loved the town where he was born and raised and visited every chance he got.
David met the love of his life, Betty Lou Melton, his yellow rose of Texas at Memphis, Texas 1957 while he was stationed at Altus A.F.B., Oklahoma. They were married on November 16, 1957 in Memphis, Texas at Travis Baptist Church, and made their home in Abilene, Texas where David was stationed. David spent 20 years in the Air Force before retiring in 1975, at McChord A.F.B. Washington serving the county he loved. David and Family have spent the last 52 years in Tacoma. his second retirement was as a Trucker, Owner and Operator.
David is survived by his wife Betty Lou Melton Herman of 64 years; Three daughters Teresa Jean (Bill) Runyan of Tacoma, Toni Lynn Herman of Tacoma, and Tamara Dee Herman (Colin Kelly) of Federal Way; Four granddaughters and eight great grandchildren Lisa Runyan (Tanner and Baker) of Puyallup, Kelli & Jason Bush (Candace and Everly) of Renton, Nicole & Glen Watkins (Bailey, Levi, Campell, and Amara) of Atkins, Arkansas. Tara & Bradley Carter of Tacoma; five nieces and one nephew Leandra Marney and La Dawn Smith of Texas, Daw Carlton of Iowa, Denise Herman, Billy Van Wyhe of Kansas, and Sundee Higel, of Kansas; two very special cousins Arnold (Babe) March and Lucille Gagnon of South Tacoma; sister-in-law Shila Herman of Texas; and brother-in-law Clarence Melton of Texas; and many more friends and relatives.
David was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Eleanor Herman; sisters Florence Herman and Lois Van Wyhe-Spurling; and brothers Richard and Harry Lee Harman.
